What is Cellulaze?
Cellulaze® is the ONLY minimally invasive laser procedure, FDA approved, to effectively break down the fibrous bands and fat that cause the “cottage cheese” look associated with cellulite. The best thing is that it delivers results in just ONE SHORT treatment.
The procedure is very similar to LaserLipo, in that a cannula about the size of angel hair pasta is inserted under your skin through a very small incision in the affected area. But here is where it gets different. Cynosure’s SideLight Laser actually works not just straight ahead but at angles to melt the fibrous bands that pull your skin down and cause the unsightly rimpling and dimpling look of cellulite. If that’s all it did Cellulaze® would easily be an incredible value, but let’s look at all the ways it works on cellulite:
- Eliminate dimpling and rimpling of cellulite by releasing the fibrous band that pull skin down and out of place.
- Liquefies and levels bumps of fat.

What will my Cellulaze® procedure feel like?
First the treated area has to be appropriately marked. Each rimple and dimple gets a color coded mark on your skin. Basically I’m “mapping” your cellulite to adjust the Cellulaze laser to the topography of your body. This is done on a 2 inch by 2 inch square basis. Sometimes it takes an hour just for me to correctly mark out the areas to be treated. This isn’t something to be left to a unqualified non-physician. After the “mark up” I can begin work. This is very detailed and meticulous work. The average time per 2×2 square of skin is about 2 minutes so you can see how one area can take a great deal of time and effort…but I think you’re worth it! There just are no shortcuts if Cellulaze® is used properly by a trained physician who cares about the quality of your results. The good part is that for as hard as I have to work, all you have to do is relax and lay there….and enjoy the results later!
Next the area of insertion is numbed with a local anesthetic. After that you might feel some light pressure but like LaserLipo patients you may just fall asleep! Afterwards you may experience some post-procedure achiness similar to what you’d feel after a hard workout at the gym. There may be some light bruising but you’ll be able to return to normal physical activities in a day or two. You may need to wear a compression garment for a short period of time after treatment.

How many treatments will I need and how long will my results last?
Results can last for a year or more (This is the extent of the studies thus far.) and continue to improve over the next 3-12 months. Cynosure the makers of Cellulaze® point out that it’s very important that if you want to continue to enjoy your Cellulaze® results you must maintain a healthy diet and exercise program.
Does Cellulaze® really work?
I’ve been using mesotherapy to breakdown cellulite since 2004, because it was the only proven method for breaking down cellulite. There have been other treatments on the market which compress the cellulite and give only inconsistent and temporary improvement in appearance. Cellulaze® has been FDA approved for the removal of cellulite. The studies regarding results show a 25% increase in skin thickness and a 29% increase in skin elasticity. This thicker and more elastic skin flattens and makes the skin appear smoother. Fully 93% of patients were satisfied or very satisfied with results after a year.
